As conditions continue to deteriorate in Haiti, our staff remains a force of positive change building, implementing, and maintaining our clean water systems. This equipment supports our Water House systems with filter changes, replacement parts, and new pieces to build new Water Houses in communities with no clean water access. We are unable to travel with this equipment safely, but are committed to sending supplies to Haiti to keep our work moving forward in the face of surmounting challenges.
Due to safety concerns we have been unable to reliably travel to Haiti to get supplies for our Water House projects. Some of these supplies we have found replacements for in country, but some are still needed to come from the US. We are needing to increase the amount and frequency of shipping supplies to keep our operations going for both building new systems and maintaining existing ones. We do not know when shipping will become available but we want to be ready for when we can send supplies.
We are hoping to raise the funds needed to ship and purchase supplies for the remainder of 2024 including two new Water House systems worth of equipment, pumps, replacement filters, and filter supplies we cannot find in Haiti right now. These funds will allow us to continue our work of providing clean water to communities without access--both by installing new Water Houses and maintaining existing ones. At this critical time, clean water is even more important to people in Haiti.
The long term impact of this project is two new Water Houses completed serving thousands of Haitians with clean water. We also believe it will help sustain our operations so that our existing 20 Water Houses will continue providing clean water for thousands of people in Haiti facing extremely threatening and difficult circumstances.
