We have recently inaugurated the Terra Sancta Football Academy at the Terra Sancta College, with the support of the Milan Foundation. The football course has been designed for 100 children aged 7 to 18.
The children participating in the Academy come from various neighborhoods of the city, often from families who have suffered the consequences of war. The Academy offers them an opportunity to socialize, make new friends, and learn - to play and have fun.
The training sessions are supervised by Haziz Bshara, head of a team of 6 coaches. Haziz, known as 'Coach Haziz' to all, is a personality: a former professional footballer who played for the Syrian Serie A team Jehad di Kamyshly and was part of the national team as a midfielder.
“I joined this project to counteract the negativity present in society, proposing something positive and sharing my experience. My children and I have experienced war firsthand, but I wanted to share the good that I have encountered not only with my children but with all members of our community.” Haziz Bshara
Coach Haziz and the academy in general exemplify how sports can offer underprivileged children a path to positive change and hope for the future.
