A year ago, on February 2019 Kardias and the American British Cowdray Hospital in Mexico inaugurated the new Heart Center with increased capacity and state of the art infrastructure. This Heart Center is the best pediatric heart center in the country, the best team of multidisciplinary doctors and the lowest mortality rates comparable with the best in the world. During this year 265 children were treated and recovered in the dedicated cardiovascular intensive care unit. Almost 1000 familly memebers benefited from the porgram. Your support has an impact beyond the health of the baby, it gives the possibility to the whole family to have a better quality of life, siblings can receive the same attention from their parents and famillies use their income for needs that that are not medical costs.
One of the bennefitted little boys is Saul, who like many Mexican children, was ineffieciently transfered to several public health system centers in which he was given inaccurate diagnoses and no solution.
His parents determination to reach Kardias was inspiring. Saul underwent heart surgery weighing only 15.4 pounds. Once his heart was repaired, his lungs started to recover little by litlle. Today this little boy is healthy and happy. His family, who had had to move with the grandparentsto be closer to the hospitals where he was treated are back home. Saul´s mom is impressed by how fast her baby gained weight she calls him bullet because he crawls really fast. He is never tired anymore.
The Center will increase the number of patients this year until it ireaches full capacity. Every child deserves a healthy heart.
Without your help, Kardias would not have the possibility to help these families, from our heart to yours thank you very much.
