The big news at Dixie Adoptables is that we retired our transport bus and it was sent to auction. The bus just wasn’t reliable, and no matter how many repairs were done, it continued to give us trouble. With no funds in sight to purchase a replacement, we will continue to transport adopted animals by putting them on another rescue group’s van.
Among our intakes was a mama cat and her 6 kittens. They are now 8 weeks old and so fun to watch. We have also been fostering 2 kittens for another rescue group that have panleukopenia. We have them quarantined and are using all precautions with them. They are being fed and given subq fluids every few hours along with medications. After 4 days, they seem to be on the upswing and are eating on their own.
We are happy to say that we have had 27 adoptions in the last few months. In times such as we are in where intakes are too often and adoptions not enough, we are very thankful for our numbers!
Dixie Adoptables is hoping that you will consider donating to help us raise enough money for a doggy play yard. Some of our dogs have been in our care for a year or more. They really need a place to run and play, get some fresh air, and feel the sunshine on their fur. This is the one thing missing from our location that we have been at for the past year. All of our dogs really need a place to stretch their legs and have a good time. It is very painful for us to see them in their kennels day after day.
