Considering the threat and sanitary crisis the Corona Virus poses, we resolve to engage in community outreach programmes. This is done through reaching out, mobilization, orientating and building the capacities of rural community members. There will be educational outreach trainings programmes, radio discussions, artwork, posters and leadership training interventions with emphasis on creating synergy among duty bearers of communities on fighting against the spread of COVID-19.
The Corona Virus disease is a highly infectious disease that constitutes a public emergency of international concern that has been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). The rapid global spread of the Corona Virus poses great risk to human life and can cause enormous socio-economic disruption in Sierra Leone. This situation therefore requires effective measures to prevent, protect, and curtail the spread of the COVID-19 diseases in Sierra Leone.
To sensitize and increase the capacity of community members, religious leaders, and youth leaders on the precautionary measures around COVID-19 across the three regions in Sierra Leone. We will further empower opinion leaders, youth leaders to serve as ambassadors for preventing the COVID-19 from reaching their various communities. We will create an advocacy platform for the implementation of national and community policies on preventing COVID-19 in Sierra Leone and their local communities.
This project will increase community awareness on the precautionary measures on Corona Virus and also increase their knowledge on hand washing and best hygiene practices in all our targeted rural communities. This project will improve in the socio-economic status of rural community members across rural communities within Sierra Leone, through enhancing togetherness amongst community health workers and opinion leaders to collaborate and fight against the spread of the Corona Virus.
