Patient Relief Mission (PRM) exist to improve cancer care and management for female patients and their care-givers by providing hostel accommodation, transport to and from Uganda cancer institute (UCI) for treatment and three meals a day to those who come from rural areas in order to receive their treatment and who otherwise would have nowhere to stay in the city. PRM was founded with the aim of ending the needless suffering for cancer patients in Kampala, Uganda.
We have commenced on the construction of the staff quarters in addition to the hostel which is now at the ruffing stage, set up a drainage system and a food garden. We are also working on making the area vehicle and wheelchare accesible. First is the drainage, then we are moving to the next phase of clearing the parking area for the vehicles together with paths to the different areas of the facility from the parking.
Success story
As we prepare to roof the structure which should be done with by the end of April 2024, we have been constructing a drainage channel around the structure. In addition, we have also set up a food garden with an aim of providing sufficient nutritious, fresh food to feed both patients and hospital staff.
We have also serviced the vehicles that will be used by the patients when the premises are ready to accvomodate them.
We look forward to finishing up with the roofing, drainage, the garden project, the parking area, the paths around the facilty and getting the means of transport ready in the months ahead as we prepare to receive the patients.
