2018 Mobile Farm Workforce Pilot Project_Final Report

The fruit and vegetable growing sector in Colorado contributes nearly $485 million
to the state in production—across a total of more than 90,000 acres—with sales
multiplied as crops proceed through the distribution chain.

Yet, statistically, there are two jobs available in agriculture for every job seeker
across the nation, with farmers in the Rocky Mountain West feeling the effects of a
snowballing national trend in agriculture.

The decline in efficient labor available to Western producers and growers was the
impetus for the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union (RMFU), Veterans to Farmers, The Good Food Collective, and UpRoot Colorado to collaborate on a mobile farm workforce (MFW) pilot project.
