Our library members love making handicrafts so much, and better yet, they love giving their creations to their loved ones!
Once or twice a week, the library offers Arts & Crafts activity. This activity is not only a favorite of the girls but also of the boys. Around 20 children come and listen to our librarian's instructions in making a new creation that they can bring home; all of the materials and tools are provided by YUM. Our librarian supervises the children when they use sharp or hot materials of course.
Recently, the children have made a Mother’s Day greeting card, a paper flower bucket, paper dolls, cord keychain and many others. Sometimes they ask if they can make extra for their loved ones at home. If we still have remaining materials, of course our librarian will let them do so. Let’s hear what the children say about this activity:
“At the Library, I learned how to make a flower bouquet from crepe paper. And I am really good at it, so my friends often ask me to help them make their bouquet more beautiful.” Nisa, 5th grader
“I once made a paper doll figure of my father for his birthday gift. He loves it so much!” Syifa, 4th grader
“I just finished making a mini christmas tree and stars from these colorful papers. Miss Rusti allowed me to bring it home. I want to use it as decoration at my house.” Kris, 6th grade
Arts and Crafts is an activity that makes our library members not only become more creative, but also become more connected with their parents and siblings. For example, in December, on Mother's Day, our librarian received messages from the parents saying that they felt extremely touched when receiving cards and decorated flowers from their children.
We thank you for making this activity possible! The Community Library in Bukit Batu strives to offer educational activities that otherwise would not be possible for the children living in the area. We hope you continue to support the project, and hope that one day you may be able to come visit us!
Warmly,
