As you know, the Ombetja Yehinga Organisation (OYO) is a Namibian NGO that uses Arts to create social awareness.
End of last year, we started a campaign to try and raise fund for a much-needed car. If you know us, you know we work tirelessly to reach young people, especially in remote area. However, to be able to reach students in school or young people in the field, we need transport.
Over the past 20 years, we have received few vehicles. Securing transport has always been an issue. It is becoming increasingly difficult to secure transport. We are extremely thankful to our partners, but the purchase of a vehicle is not an expense they can cover. After trying everything, we concluded that we will have to raise the funds ourselves.
Our Renault Duster was unfortunately involved in an accident, and we took the difficult decision to sell our beloved Condor. Together with the money raised, it allowed us to get a loan to buy a new car. So, we currently have the two old quantum and the new car, which we are paying monthly.
We are trying to keep this page opened for as long as it takes to pay for the new car – the loan is for 5 years. If you know anybody who can support us, please do share our link with them. We can now reach again schools that are too far, but we know we still have a long way to go before calling this car truly ours.
Together, we know we can make a difference.
With many thanks and warmest regards
Philippe
