Since 2019 in partnership with Brass for Africa, Root Foundation has been teaching music and lifeskills to vulnerable and street children . Today, we count up to 155 children and youth in four available band groups.
We are proud and very happy for their progress today as thy started to prove themselves to become candidates for advanced program training at Brass for Africa.
In March, our participant Rebecca Uhuriwe was selected to attend girls band performance during the celebration of Women’s day that took place at Brass for Africa headquarter, Kampala- Uganda. This band will be meeting on quarterly basis.
Also, in March after the auditions, two participants Rebecca & Placide were selected to be part of All - Star band which brings together best music students from different sites to meet every month and do rehearsal together in Kampala.
Moreover, we are very happy for Regis Ndagijimana who passed the exams and interviews to attend Student Volunteer Program that help individuals to level up their music skills and teaching experience through working together the Director of Music Education at Brass for Africa and music teachers.
All the above programs are an advancing journey not only for these three participants but also to all in the band as it inspire and motivate others to work hard and maximize their full potential.
It is also inline with our project growth plan especially towards opening outreaches of using music and lifeskills as a tool to transform the lives of many children on street.
We look forward to seeing the success of this campaign which will enable us to be able to achieve more for our less privileged children children youth.
