The Nyitawuta community was overwhelmed to see the beginning of the project to build the clinic on the 12th of May 2021. There was a sod cutting to begin the project. The entire community gathered to start digging the foundation of the clinic; everyone who could dig including the chief joined their efforts together amidst joy and excitement as they dug the foundation. There was no charge on the labor provided by the community, because the community had pledge to support the project with their labor as and when was needed. The first major challenged was encountered when building materials was being moved to the community. The road was so bad that it was very difficult to get trucks that could bring building materials to the community. By the Grace of God materials finally got to the community, these included cement, sand, iron rods among others. The contractor brought three expects on board who stayed in the community to start the block work in the foundation once the digging of the foundation was over. Water to do the work was not a problem since there was a small truck that brought water from the dam that was constructed with the support of GlobalGiving last year for the community.
By the 21st of June the foundation work was done, and they began to cast the floor to complete the first phase of the project. By the end of phase one the actual expenditure was Ghc 41,200 which is equivalent to $7,292 at an exchange rate of 5.65 in May 2021.
The foundation size was increased from the initial size; this was to provide a one bedroom apartment attached to the clinic for the health worker to live in the community.
We want to say a big thank you to all our donors for helping us raise funds to bring hope to the community who have very high expectation that we will be able to raise the rest of the funds to complete the clinic for them.
Long Live GlobalGiving for all the support and a special thanks again to our donors.
God bless you all
