Tackling Malnutrition in Young Children in Mexico

During the months of May and June, the Nutrition Fair was held in the kindergartens that we serve, where in a very dynamic and practical way we teach parents the topics of the Happy Plate, healthy portions and the use of sugar.

For the topic of the Happy Plate and healthy portions, the parents learned how to eat more balanced by combining at least one food from the three food groups at each meal. Eating a balanced diet helps us get the nutrients you need for a healthier life, so we have to choose foods wisely.

For the topic of Use of Sugar the parents learned that eating excess sugar can have negative health consequences, such as diabetes, overweight, cardiovascular diseases, etc. The maximum added sugar for children is 6 tablespoons and for adults it is 8 tablespoons per day.

The importance of delivering these workshops is to generate commitment with parents to care for the health of their children and themselves, generating a change in the communities we serve at Fundación Nutriendo.

We are happy to share with you great news, we are growing! Fundación Nutriendo is not only in San Luis Potosí we are now also in Jalisco, Guanajuato y Querétaro, now we are supporting more than 6,000 children. Our program continues to grow stronger, one of our goals for 2024 is to continue supporting the nutrition of more children in México and improve our care models with a prepared team.
