In rural Nigeria, many girls drop out of school due to poverty, lack of clean water, inadequate sanitation facilities. Without access to safe toilets and hygiene education, girls struggle to stay in school during menstruation. Families also face financial barriers, making it difficult to afford school fees, books, & essential supplies. This project will provide free education, books, uniforms, shoes, borehole for clean drinking water, safe toilets, Pads & handwashing stations, hygiene training.
Inflation have doubled the rate of poverty in Nigeria. Many parents cannot afford school fees, uniforms, books, shoes, forcing girls to drop out of school, become vulnerable to early/forced marriage, street hawking, prostitution & early pregnancy. Many school have no borehole, lack clean water, leading to poor sanitation & hygiene, no safe toilets, students defecate on toilet floor, girls mess school during period, increasing risk of disease, infection and dehydration, making learning difficult
Pay school fees for vulnerable girls, ensuring they continue their education. Provide books, uniforms, and school supplies to remove financial barriers. Drill a borehole to provide clean water for drinking & washing. Build gender-friendly water system toilets to ensure privacy and hygiene for girls. Install handwashing stations with soap to prevent diseases. Distribute hygiene kits (sanitary pads, soap, underwear) Train girls on menstrual hygiene and give them hygiene booklets).
Higher School Retention: With education support more girls will stay in school and complete their education. Improved Health: Access to clean water and safe toilets will stop students defecating on the toilets floor, reduce infections, dehydration, and waterborne diseases. Dignity & Empowerment: Girls will no longer skip school due to menstruation and will gain confidence through hygiene education. Breaking the Cycle of Poverty: Educated girls become future leaders, earning higher incomes.
