Life is Changing for These Families Thanks to You!

By Brian Stevens | Donor Engagement Director

You are empowering them to escape extreme poverty.
You are empowering them to escape extreme poverty.

We’re Grateful for Your Generosity

Thank you so much for your generous support for Beyond Borders' Family Sponsorship Program in the rural Haitian communities of Nan Mango and Plen Mapou. We are grateful for your generosity!

You are ensuring that some of the most vulnerable families in rural Haiti have a path to a much brighter future, one that is filled with dignity, hope, opportunity, and self-reliance.

This is a very exciting moment for families, as they are now beginning to receive the income-generating assets -- livestock, or the goods to start a small business -- that are key to their future economic independence.

Thanks to generous supporters like you, families have now been trained in how to effectively manage their new assets, and in July we began distributing livestock to raise and goods to sell.

Weekly coaching visits will continue to build the skills that families need to effectively manage their new income-generating assets for their long-term success.

Life is Truly Changing for Families, Thanks to You

Life is truly changing for these families thanks to you, and your solidarity, and generosity. With your support, each family now has:

  • a modest, but growing source of income so that they can begin providing for themselves and put money aside in savings each month;
  • access to clean drinking water at home; and,
  • a renewed sense of independence that comes with earning your own living.

Your gift helps to make so much more possible too:

  • health education and access to health care so they can stay healthy and keep working;
  • support to bring home any children they’ve sent away, and to get all their school-aged children enrolled in a good, local school; and,
  • help repairing or rebuilding their home so they can live in dignity and stay safe when bad weather strikes.

You are Making Economic Opportunity Possible

Your gift also supports other economic initiatives designed to empower families to lift themselves out of extreme poverty AND ensure that they can provide for themselves long after the 18-month sponsorship ends.

Families work with a life coach to identify and track specific, achievable economic goals like starting a small business, creating their own savings account, and investing in a community-based savings and loan.

Community S&L groups promote solidarity among neighbors and provide each family with a greater measure of economic security, serving as a resource in an emergency or helping families to increase their purchasing power to grow their new businesses.

The economic success and independence that families achieve - thanks to your generous support - is a huge boost to their self-confidence. This confidence will sustain them when they face future challenges and uncertainties.

Thank You Again

Your solidarity with these families means more than we can say. And your generosity means that they'll have the skills and the means to provide for themselves long after they graduate from the 18-month sponsorship program. We are grateful for your generosity, your care, and your concern.
