The six famlies in our pilot outreach program are ecstatic! No longer do they need to feel and be isolated because of societal norms. Now they can connect with other families, and receive acceptance and learn coping skills from them. What an enormous gift!!
In addition, the Homes are providing their loved ones with initial assessments
for medical,
physical, and
occupational therapy needs.
Following the the asssessments, the Homes and the families develop individual plans for how best to care for their loved one at home. The Homes provide any necessary medicines, and teach the families about the value and side effects of the medications. Staff teach the families exercises they could do with their loved one at home. Always, caring people--other family members or staff--answer the famiies innumerablle questions and reduce their anxiety.
By this project,You are empowering the famlies, and creating hope. You have also created, a program by which many other famiies can and will be served.
THANK YOU for making an enormous difference in the lives of struggling families and their very special differently-abled loved ones.
