On Monday, July 23rd, multiple fires erupted near Mati and Rafina, seaside areas of Athens, Greece. Fanned by winds of up to 60 miles per hour, the fires quickly grew into raging infernos claiming the lives of over 90 people, completely destroying over 1,200 homes and leaving a whole country in a state of shock. This project aims to humbly help families rebuild their homes.
Over 1,260 hectares have been burnt, over 3,000 houses have been damaged, and over 9,000 people have been affected.
Our main focus is to help low income families for whom the damaged homes were their primary residence. By covering the cost of essential building materials, we can help families rebuild their homes. We can reduce the time of insecurity, the feeling of helplessness and, with your help, we can make sure people are back in their homes as soon as possible, where they can start rebuilding their lives.
This project will be able to significantly contribute to the rebuilding of at least 10 homes and to the well being of at least 40 people who almost lost everything.
