By Lou Billett | Chair and Founder, African Angels
We are grateful to individuals who sponsor the education of our African Angels, that overcomes financial barriers for parents when choosing to send their children to African Angels. Using a careful application process, designed by our parents, we receive applications for sponsorship and can prioritise these in order of need.
Of the 156 children enrolled at the African Angels Independent School, over 80 are sponsored. This means parents who are financially vulnerable, can still support their children's nutrition at school, in most instances the transport to and from school, and uniform needs, and school fees, which help run our school, are covered by their sponsor.
Some of our sponsors have made personal connections with their Angels, meeting them and their families when visiting Chintsa. In many instances sponsors like Rachel have continued to sponsor Ahlume through is high school careers. Some of our sponsors have delighted their Angels with birthday pizza and cool drinks, and others with thoughtful gifts of inspirational books, handwritten cards and gifts from afar.
Every sponsor receives regular updates about "their" Angel's progress, and activities at school.
We are grateful to each person who has chosen to invest in the future of a child attending African Angels, so their futures will be different.
With gratitude,
Lou
