Dear Backup family,
As the year winds down, we’re excited to share some highlights of our work from the past few months. From empowering teachers to forging new partnerships, these final months of 2024 have been filled with progress and hope for the future.
Training Success in Jinja
Last month, we wrapped up another successful training for teachers and partners at St. Moses CCC in Jinja. This training focused on dyslexia, dyscalculia, and practical ways to use the National Learning Needs Identification Tool. Participants left feeling more confident and equipped to identify and support learners with diverse educational needs. It’s always inspiring to see the enthusiasm of educators ready to make a difference in their classrooms.
New Partnerships in Kitgum
In November, we paid our first visits to two new partner schools in Kitgum district. While the bumpy roads tested our endurance, the warm reception from the school teams made it all worthwhile. We’re excited to deepen these partnerships in 2025 and collaborate with these schools to create inclusive learning environments for every child.
Schools Close for the Holidays
As December rolled in, schools across Uganda closed their doors for the Christmas holidays. They’ll reopen in early February 2025, giving everyone a well-deserved break and a chance to reset for the year ahead. For us, this means gearing up for an exciting new chapter with our partner schools in the coming year.
Giving Tuesday Success
Giving Tuesday was a heartwarming success! Thanks to our supporters, we raised $695 towards adding new partner primary schools to our program in 2025. These funds, including the $140 incentive we earned from GlobalGiving, bring us closer to expanding our reach to more schools and learners who need it most.
Looking Ahead
As we head into 2025, we’re energized by the progress we’ve made and the possibilities that lie ahead. Together with our supporters, we’re building a brighter future for children in Uganda—one classroom, one school, and one community at a time.
Thank you for standing with us on this journey. We can’t wait to see what we can achieve together in the new year!
Much love,
The Backup Uganda Team
