As 2024 came to a close, the Kevin Richardson Foundation proudly hosted the annual end-of-year competition for our Big 5 Schools program. This event is a highlight of the year, providing children from Kekana Gardens with the opportunity to showcase their growing knowledge and passion for wildlife conservation.
This year, over 300 children participated in the program, with 120 students experiencing the thrill of their first game drive, thanks to our partnership with Mongena Private Game Lodge. Additionally, our in-person lessons reached 450 children, introducing them to the wonders of the Big 5 through puppets, songs, and interactive storytelling.
The competition itself was a vibrant celebration, with students presenting creativity with handmade costumes, participating in quizzes, and sharing heartfelt performances on the importance of protecting our wildlife. Their enthusiasm and dedication were truly inspiring, reminding us why education is such a vital part of our mission.
We are grateful to our partners and supporters who make this program possible and to the young learners who give us hope for a brighter future. A big thank you to all the participants for their outstanding efforts—they truly are the conservation champions of tomorrow!
