GLOBALGIVING REPORT – FEBRUARY 2024
HELP ALLEVIATE MISERY FOR ANIMALS IN CAPE TOWN
Dear TEARS Animal Rescue Supporters on the GlobalGiving Platform
We feel so privileged to be part of the GlobalGiving Family, which has afforded us the opportunity to be supported by many caring donors who have donated to our project. The generosity of everyone is greatly valued, as your contributions have enabled us to fulfill our Project objectives of providing free sterilisations and primary healthcare (vaccinations, parasite control) to the animals living in the low-income areas of Vrygrond (Capricorn) and surrounding settlements.
The number of animals needing our help continues to grow at an overwhelming rate, but with your support, we can achieve so much more as we strive to uplift the lives of compromised animals, provide primary healthcare and veterinary support, engage with the communities to educate them on pet care, as well as supply food, as part of our #Feed Hungry Pets Campaign.
In a review of donor support, GlobalGiving advised that in 2023, 10 donors had contributed to our cause, of whom 8 were new to our organisation. U$3 439 was raised through donations facilitated by GlobalGiving, and US$80 was received via GlobalGiving Gift Cards. A further U$153.44 was received via direct donations on the GlobalGiving Platform.
2024 is a special year for our organisation as we celebrate 25 years of making a difference in the lives of companion animals and their owners, and we thank all donors for helping us to make a difference in the lives of people and animals residing in the impoverished communities of the greater Vrygrond area.
We have made a video (https://vimeo.com/908231934) to take you behind the scenes into the heart of what we DO and why it matters. We hope that it serves to uplift, inspire, and make you appreciate WHY animal welfare impacts human welfare and that TEARS is so much more than just an animal Shelter.
We are in the business of supporting vulnerable pets and uplifting communities by improving community health through our zoonotic disease prevention and companion animal population control (https://tears.org.za/mobile-clinics/) Programmes.
TEARS is also passionate about inspiring a new generation to live more kindly with a healthy respect for people, pets, and the planet, and has been operating a compassion and pet care education (https://tears.org.za/community-education/) Programme since 2021, with a focus on youth between the ages of 8 – 18.
Thank you for caring and for helping us to better care for and enrich the lives of vulnerable people and pets and make their world a better place.
With sincere gratitude.
Warm regards
