GLOBALGIVING REPORT – FEBRUARY 2022
HELP ALLEVIATE MISERY FOR ANIMALS IN CAPE TOWN
Dear Valued Supporters of TEARS Animal Rescue on the GlobalGiving Platform
The regular donations we receive from our supporters via the GlobalGiving Platform are vital in helping us to make a greater impact in the vulnerable communities we serve in Vrygrond and surrounding settlements – thank you for caring!
Our TEARS Veterinary Hospital and Clinic sees on average 50 – 60 patients per day, and this includes sterilisations, surgeries, blood work, x-rays, and ultra-sounds. We treat a range of diseases including biliary and ehrlichia, and many injuries caused by bite and stab wounds, burns, motor vehicle accidents, physical abuse and other injury causing incidents.
Many of the cases we treat are from Vrygrond and surrounding areas, and the need for our services continues to escalate, putting great pressure on our Veterinary Team and resources. It costs TEARS approximately R515 000 per month to operate our Hospital and Mobile Clinic and Outreach Programme to provide the welfare and rescue services we do across an area of 250 square kilometres in the Deep South of the Cape Peninsula.
For the period March 2020 to February 2021, we rescued 727 unwanted pets, vaccinated 3 314 animals, sterilised 6 091 pets, as well as a further 3 314 feral and community cats, which were sterilised, treated and released. 6 720 injured and sick animals were treated at the TEARS Veterinary Hospital, which included 3 432 vet consultations. Without the financial support of compassionate donors, we would never be able to provide the level of veterinary care and sterilisations we are able to achieve, as we strive to end animal homelessness and suffering by curtailing the indiscriminate breeding of animals in many low-income communities. We will always strive to be the best animal welfare organisation, providing the best services for the companion animals in the vulnerable communities we serve, but this can only be achieved through the compassionate and sustained donations of those who care. Through your support and interest in TEARS Animal Rescue, you are travelling the long road with us, and we greatly appreciate you recognising the critical work being done by our organisation to help those who have no voice; thank you for caring.
Take care and stay safe and protected.
With sincere appreciation and warm regards
