Greetings from the French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC)
Over the last 14 years, FMIC has been providing quality in-patient, out-patient and diagnostic services to the Afghans initially with special focus on children and mothers and now serving adults as well. Cognizant of the local circumstances and impoverished condition of the many Afghans, FMIC has also established a Patient Welfare Program (PWP) to ensure its unique and international-standard services are available to mothers and children from all across Afghanistan, regardless of their ability to pay.
To date, millions of Afghan patients have benefited from FMIC’s high quality care. FMIC’s Patient Welfare Programme underwrites the cost of care for people who cannot afford to pay for all or part of their treatment. Given the situation of chronic poverty in Afghanistan, the demands on the Welfare Fund are overwhelming. Since FMIC’s inception in 2006 a total of 535,654 patients, from all over Afghanistan, have been supported with patient welfare funds of which 483,840 were outpatient (clinics, radiology and laboratory) whereas, 51,814 were inpatient. As a whole, FMIC’s Patient Welfare Program has spent US$ 38.1 million so far in providing the medical and surgical care to those in need.
We look forward to your generous support in our drive towards making quality healthcare accessible to all in Afghanistan!
