As a 19 year-old young woman, Anyi Paola dreams of becoming a nurse technician in order to help others and improve the quality of life of her and her family. She lives in a vulnerable neighborhood in the mountains of Medellin, sharing her home with her father, mother, grandfather and brother. She enjoys watching romantic movies and spending time with her boyfriend.
“Since I was little I want to study medicine or nursing, a profession that serves people, where I can be God’s medium in helping others”, says Anyi.
As she followed her dream to help others, Anyi encountered economic barriers, but her teacher in school told her about the Educational Institute at Hospital Pablo Tobon Uribe and encouraged her to enroll. “When I was called for the interview and I realized the costs, I was deeply discouraged. But my mother told me, not to worry, that we would find a way. To my surprise, the Institute provides scholarships, not only for the tuition, but for my transportation as well. Ever since I was notified that I could enter the Institute with a scholarship, my life, my thoughts and my expectations not only changed for me, but for my entire family as well. My dream of becoming a nurse technician is coming true, bringing me countless of blessings.Thank you to all of the people that gave me this big help with which I can improve my future and that of my family.”
There are many young adults in the same position as Anyi Paola, waiting for an opportunity like this to change their lives. For this reason, Hospital Pablo Tobon Uribe counts on the Institute of Education to make an impact on the lives of young adults between 17 and 22 years-old from vulnerable areas in the country. This allows them to have the opportunity to pursue a career as nurse technicians.
Thank you for your help.
