Root Foundation is solving the problem of increase of children going on street from its root causes. Poverty is the most problem leading a big number of children to end up on street. It starts when a family can not provide basic needs regularly and due to hunger children choose to go on street beg and/or steal some of the food from local markets. Root Foundation is working with families especially mothers to empower them with the vocational skills to start making regular income.
More than 70% of our children's parents didn't finish secondary school and now majority of the go for daily hustle, hand to mouth, for survival . This life has been a long term struggle for the parents to regularly feed and cover other basic needs for the family. The stories from the children in this community are about get single meal per day which pushes children to beg or steal food in the market. These parents also get very limited time for parenting which results to mentioned poo behaviors
This project comes to solve this problem as it empowers women to get their careers from short-term vocal trainings; sewing, knitting and handcraft. Alongside the trainings, these women learn business concepts and parenting. This will provide the security to earn regular income which cover basic family needs and also parents reserve time for their chidren to shape their behaviors and future. These women are also able to make saving which they use for solving big goal like starting business, etc.
This project will help women to maintain regular income for their families to cater for basic needs. Also this project will solve the problem of children who go on street due to poverty and instead children will get inspiration and motivation from their parents. Moreover, this project will help women to overcome gender inequality as they will start to come up with big earnings starting from all and in the community, we will be seeing the products shops and other businesses from these women.
