This project is going to provide free Street-Smart Education Initiative which is a multifaceted program designed to provide street children with access to education, essential life skills, and support services to help them break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability. The key features of this project will include mobile and flexible learning programs, child learning spaces, Peer mentoring and counselling, family reintegration support and community advocacy
"Currently in Nigeria, there are 18.5 million out-of-school children, 60% of whom are girls," Rahama Farah, the head of the UNICEF office in Kano, told reporters, March, 2024. The numerous attacks on schools by jihadists and criminal gangs in the north have harmed children's education, these attacks have created a precarious learning environment, discouraged parents from sending their children to school," Farah said. Women Inspiration Development center (WIDC) provides innovation lies in the holistic and community-centered approach of the Street-Smart Education Initiative (SSEI), which combines various strategies to address the complex needs of street children like tailored education programs, mobile learning unit, reintegration with their parents, feedings, health care, issues of their mental health because they may have been exposed to series of abuse, drug addiction and other crimes
With this project, Street Smart Education Initiative (SSEI) would have taken 3000 out of school children in Nigeria out of the street permanently working with community-based organizations, community leaders, government agencies and other stake holders that would be the drivers of this initiative.
