Barjam is a bright and enthusiastic 6-year-old boy from the Roma community. Despite coming from a family facing significant financial hardships, Barjam has a deep love for learning and dreams of starting First Grade.
His mother shares their struggles:
"My heart longs for Barjam to attend school, but we face two major challenges. First, we can’t afford school supplies, clothes, shoes, or a backpack for him because my husband and I are unemployed. Second, we are illiterate and unable to help our son with his homework."
Recognizing Barjam's determination, our project in Gjirokaster stepped in to make his dream a reality. The team provided him with school supplies, clothes, shoes, and other essentials. They also enrolled him in their After-School Program, which offers a hot meal, homework assistance, and fun activities.
Thanks to this support, Barjam was thrilled to finally start First Grade this past year, ready to learn and grow with confidence.
