The pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of human life in southern Africa and presented an unprecedented challenge to public health, food systems and the world of work. The African Economic and social disruption have left many Africans at the risk of falling into extreme poverty.

As an organization that strives to improve the well-being of vulnerable children and communities through capacity development and education, we believe entrepreneurship and employment is the only hope for this desperate situation.

Our enterprise program which was introduced in October 2020 with the help of our partners, and your generous support, the program has supported not only the communities that we work with but also our staff members.

Testimonials

My name is Eunice Nkambule, I am one of the enterprise program beneficiaries and I received an E10 000.00 loan to start my poultry business. I have always wanted to start a business but due to lack of funds and knowledge, this felt like a farfetched dream. When I learned about the enterprise program that provided one with a start-up microloan and mentorship support, I did not think twice but just applied.  I started the poultry business because in my community there was a shortage of meat. I started with 100 broiler chicks, I managed to sell 96 and with the help of my mentor I have been able to promote my business and manage my finances.

However, due to the outbreak of bird flu in South Africa, my business had to come to a halt because there was no chicken supply. Things have since gone back to normal and I have ordered 100 chicks that I will sell in 6 weeks. I am optimistic that one day the business will grow and I will be able to give others an opportunity of employment.”
