Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your support to our project producing heirloom seeds so that farmers can avail of it. This is very important because what is lacking in farm production are high quality seeds and those in the market are very expensive and are of the hybrid varieties. We need to produce and multiply local seeds and seedlings and one way to do this is to grow mother plants where we can get planting materials later on. We will train farmers also to grow and multiply their own sources of seeds and seedlings and in so doing expand our efforts. We are very excited about this work because of the promise of food security for poor farmers. Hoping that you will continue to support us. Thank you very much.

Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your generous support to our initiative promoting the use of heirloom seeds in farming especially by small, marginal farming families who do not have access to hybrid seeds. Also hybrid seeds aside from being expensive could not be used over again because it will not produce true to type, so unlike traditional varieties that have withstand the test of time for generations. This reporting period we promoted the use and processing of heirloom seeds to young trainees who will be farming their land areas. Our seeds being promoted comprise of vegetables, root crops and legumes. We were able to train a total of 30 farmers and we hope to increase the number in the next few months. We plan also to establish a small seed production farm which aside from producing the seeds will also be training ground for those interested to use this type of seeds. Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your continuing support to our project collecting and distributing heirloom seeds. We are happy to report that this project is going strong and getting traction from local practitioners involved in the collection of heirloom seeds. It is important to note that farmers are becoming dependent on commercially available hybrid seeds and the possibility of using these seeds for the next cropping cycle is low as experienced by many farmers. Producing and distributing heirloom seeds is one way to counteract this scheme and improve the income of farmers since with heirloom seeds, they can use this over and over again. This reporting period we are reproducing squash, ladys fingers and tomato seeds for distribution and we will continue to grow and distribute other vegetable seeds in the coming months.
