Welcoming Exciting Changes in 2019!

The DESEA Peru Team

As 2018 came to an end, we reflected not only on the successful year that we had at DESEA PERU, but as well, on our 10-year anniversary.  We continued to strengthen our partnerships with 11 communities and experienced excellent involvement and enthusiasm from community members in our projects.  Some 2018 highlights include: the expansion of a reservoir that will allow year-round water access to 28 families; a Women’s Association that has made improvements in literacy, leadership skills, and economic opportunities through textile sales; and the constant advancement in the training of qhalis (community health workers).   Internally DESEA continued to make improvements to our operations and strategic plan and added talented new staff to support the implementation of our growing programs.

A major accomplishment in 2018 was the establishment of a formal affiliation with our long-term partner Vibrant Village Foundation.  Starting in 2019, VVF will ensure more stable funding to implement our programs and provide regular support in key areas of program development, monitoring and evaluation, and financial management. DESEA PERU will remain a Peruvian non-profit, with a strong local staff who will continue to deliver our programs and expand our impact in the region.

Given this increased support, DESEA PERU is no longer seeking donations, and thus will be retiring from GlobalGiving.  We are grateful to our donors and volunteers that have contributed to our successes over the last 10 years and would like to offer our sincere thanks for your support.  We hope that you will consider donating to other grassroots, participatory-based organizations in need.  However, if you would still like to donate to DESEA PERU, you can do so by sending a yearly cheque with DESEA PERU in the note field to Vibrant Village Foundation at the address below.
