HRI IS RESPONDING TO THE MAGNITUDE 7.2 EARTHQUAKE THAT STRUCK SOUTHWEST HAITI ON THE 14 OF AUGUST. Currently, the death toll is at 2,200 and climbing. More than 10,000 are injured, many severely. Hundreds are missing or unaccounted for. Thousands of homes, churches and businesses have been destroyed. Roads are blocked by mudslides. There have been aftershocks of magnitude 5.2, 5.1, and many others. The devastation is overwhelming and will be for some time, and that's why we need YOU!
We are distributing emergency safe drinking water, nutritious ready-to-eat meals, mosquito nets, and sanitation & hygiene products at the epicenter of the quake. We are preparing for an influx of children into orphanages as children were lost in the chaos and others have parents who have perished in the aftermath. And we are purchasing all items within Haiti to help local business owners - as well as working with a handful of small business owners to help with income generation projects.
PLEASE PARTNER WITH HRI. THE SUPPORT YOU GIVE WILL BE FOCUSED ON THE LONG-TERM RECOVERY OF INDIVIDUAL CHILDREN AND FAMILIES! Whether it is those we are serving through income generation projects or children and families who end up in Port-au-Prince and need assistance, HRI will be there to provide education, basic supplies, business training, psychosocial support and more for the immediate and long-term to help them build back their lives!
