"Internet access has sparked more learning interest in students and is a significant tool for teaching my classes."
-Maria, Math & Physics Teacher
Created in 2015, NovaNet is a social project of Filantropís ONG. As we like to share, NovaNet is much more than a residential internet provider...it is a service that reduces barriers, connects people with new experiences, and helps keep people close to their loved ones.
This motto has certainly come alive in Chajul, where - thanks to supporters like you - NovaNet has been able to provide internet access for local schools in Chajul, Guatemala, such as the INEB Institute. As Maria noted, the access to wireless, high speed internet has transformed her classroom and the experience of her students. The community of Chajul, like so many others thoughout Guatemala and the region, has experience vast increase in migration over the past 5 years. NovaNet recognizes that access to the internet in schools is a key factor in students awakening their interest in their studies, completing their school years, and avoiding - or at least suspending - the potentially dangerous and costly migration journey.
And we have fantastic news to share: thanks to the contributions of GlobalGiving donors, NovaNet will be able to continue to provide internet connection to INEB Institute teachers and students in 2024. The continued support will offer a additional wifi capabilities specifically for teachers and administrators, providing much needed tools for curriculum building and research.
Additionally, in the upcoming year, NovaNet will be able to provide the school's full Digital Learning Laboratory with internet access, which will be a critical step in connecting students' learning journeys with technologica tools. Filantropis, through social projects such as NovaNet, continues to offer critical services to support the educational development of Chajul and the surrounding communities, building capacity, knowledge, and a better quality of life. Thank YOU for believing in this work alongside us!
