Did you know that fair and equiable access is part of the United Nation's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals? Your support of NovaNet is helping to reach to 9th SDG goal which is to "Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation." In a rural community like Chajul, having access to reliable internet service is critical for students, professionals, and families to learn, research, and connect.
Novanet, a social entreprise of Filantropis ONG, is connecting over 150 clients in their community with high speed internet service. While their client list includes individuals, it also includes a host of institutes, such as schools and other nonprofit organizations.
Recently, Novanet installed the first highspeed internet connection in the village of Batzul. Located about 40 kilometers south of Chajul's city center, Batzul is a remote community of about 250 inhabitants. The connection is serving the organization Barefoot College Latin America, whose mission is to support rural women's livliehoods. The Novanet connection will allow them to operate their solar engineer training, as well as programs in entrepreneurship and agroecology.
We can't think of a better representation of the UN's ninth Sustainable Development Goal in action. Thank YOU for being a part of connecting people throughout Chajul, Guatemala to promote inclusion, sustainabilty, and innovation.
