Guarantee Internet Access for Mayan Ixil Youth

Since 2016, NovaNet has been bringing residential internet to the community of Chajul, transforming lives and creating opportunities. More than just a connectivity service, we are a bridge to the future. Through our social commitment, we have supported 10 students by providing free internet access so they can achieve their academic and professional goals.

Viviana is a clear example of how connection can change lives. As a medical student, Viviana travels two hours by bus daily to attend her classes. Despite the challenges, her determination is unwavering. Since the age of 12, after losing her mother, she has taken on the responsibility of caring for her two siblings alongside her father.

At NovaNet, we know that internet access can change lives. Stories like Viviana's inspire us to keep working. Thanks to free internet at home, Viviana can advance in her studies, build a better future for herself and her family, and become a doctor to serve her community.

At Novanet, we believe in the creation of solutions that connect all of us across the borders of time and space. 

From an early age, children show an astounding capacity for creativity and exploration. This innate curiosity and ability to imagine innovative solutions is essential for their cognitive and emotional development. Parents play a crucial role in nurturing and expanding these capacities.

In the municipality of San Gaspar Chajul in the Quiché department in the western part of the Republic of Guatemala, there are 60 rural communities. According to UNICEF 2023, only 5% of adolescents had access to the internet, and according to a preliminary survey by NovaNet, only 10% of the population has internet access in their homes. This indicates that the 60 communities of Chajul still lack access to information to complement their academic formation and nurture their curiosity. 

Based on the internet connection data, NovaNet believes in building solutions and alternatives that connect us without limits of time and space. That's why NovaNet bought 2 Starlink satellite dishes to facilitate internet connection for one of its communities called Xix, connecting the first out of 60 of the communities. By facilitating internet access, we are fulfilling our purpose: to build community by bridging distances and connecting hearts.

Support us with the annual Starlink payment of $960 annually ($80 monthly). Together, we will transform the lives of the Maya Ixil population of Chajul by providing accessible internet service. Our commitment is to continue connecting this community with the world, opening doors to new opportunities, and improving the quality of life for its residents. With the support and collaboration of everyone, NovaNet will continue to be a beacon of hope and progress for Chajul and beyond.
