Dear Friends,
It has been a slightly slow first quarter of fundraising for this project. Despite this, we're pleased to report that the community team in Nairobi has been able to make great progress. There has been further clean-up of the river banks, and the river itself (it's the rainy season now, so the rivers are full of plastic and waste to be fished out!).
The team from our partners has begun to transform the waste plastic removed from the river and riverbanks into hard wearing paving blocks, and as a demonstration project, the first public of these has been the riverside path here in Migingo, as you can start to see below. The blocks are generating a great deal of interest, and hopefully some commercial interest from people interested in buying them (they're harder wearing and of course better for the environment than cement tiles). Of course, the proceeds of any sales will be reinvested in the project themselves.
Do please continue to support us by sharing the link to the project with any friends and family who might like to join you, and us, in continuing to transform the riverside environment in Nairobi, Kenya, and also help keep more plastic and other waste out of the rivers and oceans of our planet.
Many thanks in advance!
