Greater Food Security for women farmers in India

Good news from the farm

Thank you for your continued generosity and support. Despite the 2^nd wave of the COVID-19 pandemic during 2021, another 180 women farmers have been successfully introduced to the climate-smart greenhouses. Their hard work and enterprise has helped them to adopt new and better farming practices, increase their household income by $1000 per year and provide for their families with greater assurance and confidence.

Women inspire other women

These women have also inspired their neighbouring farmers to adopt the climate-smart greenhouses for their farming livelihoods. Nepali Devi, living in a remote village in Uttar Pradesh, India who, upon seeing and learning about the benefits of farming with the climate-smart greenhouse, persuaded her family to participate in the program. Nepali spends 8-10 hours every day growing vegetables using the greenhouse while also saving time to tend to her cattle and milk collection farming. Armed with the soil-testing and advisory support and guidance from our partner, Kheyti, Nepali is all set to start sowing her first English cucumber crop next week!

More women farmers will benefit from climate-smart greenhouses in 2022

We plan to help another 500 women farmers also start using their climate-smart greenhouses during 2022. With your continued support, we aim to raise another $30,000 this year to help many other women and their families to start benefitting from sustainable and climate-resilient farming.
