Banking on the Future's mission is simple: to ensure cost is not a major obstacle for post-pubertal adolescents to bank their reproductive cells prior to medical treatments which will render them infertile. We've teamed up with storage facilities around the country enabling Banking on the Future to provide grants to cover the first year of storage, with subsequent years discounted via our program. We give youth without health insurance hope by helping them preserve their fertility.
Health insurance does not cover the cost of fertility preservation for most patients in need. There are grants and discount programs to assist adults, but few resources exist to support adolescents. Parents of youth are overwhelmed by their child's diagnosis of cancer. Typically storage for fertility preservation can cost families around $1000 and this is not a priority.
Banking on the Future grants allow parents to focus on their children's health, cancer treatment, and recovery. Removing the initial financial burden of storing reproductive cells enables adolescents to have hope for a future family.
Recipients of the grant, throughout the United States, will have the option of trying to have a family when they are ready.
