Dear Fundación Dones de Misericordia Supporters,
We hope you, your family and friends are having a blessed start to this holiday season. As we enter the last month of the year, we begin to reflect on the progress the boys have made during this last period and we also begin the exciting activities we have planned for the end of the year. Your donations have been essential in supporting the best quality of healthcare for the boys during this last period specifically.
Our staff, in Casa de los Dones, has been participating in various workshops to keep up to date with the latest health protocols for the wellbeing of the boys such as maintaining healthy diets and good oral hygiene. A couple of our boys contracted chicken pox at school which affected the entire house, thankfully we were able to provide them with the best environment possible during their quarantine and the staff was provided with additional workshops to care for and prevent the further spread of the virus. The boys also had constant health check ups during this time and we are blessed that they are all healthy again. Since getting better the boys have had their last general check ups of the year including pediatric, dental, orthopedic, cardiatric and psychiatric appointments.
During the boys´ quarantine, they participated in individual and team bonding activities, for example, birthday celebrations, dance therapy, morning exercises, DIY decoracion workshops, occupational workshops, guided meditations and best of all, some of our volunteers sponsored a trip to a recreation center for the boys were they had lots of fun in the sun.
Additionally, we continue to provide parent training sessions to increase their behavior management skills, we continue to encourage family visits and regular phone calls and with these efforts one of the boys was able to reunite his family and is doing very well.
Lastly, the boys are currently having a successful end to the school year and we are excited to share more on that in our next GlobalGiving report! For now we wish you, your family, and loved ones a wonderful end of the year with lots of memories to cherish forever.
