55 laptops for our underprivileged female students

We want to thank you immensely for your support in providing each of our students with their own laptop computer. Our students have expressed enormous enthusiasm for their new gift and use their laptops for several hours every day.  

This project was initiated at the beginning of the covid crisis and has proven very useful even when the lockdown was discontinued. Having their own laptop gives students the opportunity to practice managing their files and discovering all the useful applications a laptop offers. This learning process, which continues throughout their time as students, increases their chance to find a job immensely. 

Every year new students arrive in Dar Moustaqbel and your support is crucial in giving every student their own computer. To fully benefit from their time as students, it is very important that they develop their digital skills as quickly as possible. Many of our students have never worked on a computer before obtaining their high school diploma. So when they arrive at their new student residence, they immediately start working on their computer skills under professional guidance in our in-house educational program. 

During covid times, our exchange programs with American students have provided an excellent opportunity to cross the ocean digitally and enjoy the company of international students. And thanks to having their own laptops, every student could engage with some of the teachers that weren’t comfortable with giving in-house lessons yet. 

We have also noticed that our students have passed on their competencies to younger students and even to younger siblings and other children in their home villages. This trickle-down effect means that many people benefit from the one laptop that every student at Dar Moustaqbel receives. Our students are often the only ones that possess a computer in their home villages. We encourage our students to take their laptops with them when visiting their parents. Our students take very good care of their own laptop as it is their most prized possession. And after a visit to their village, they always bring back their laptops with them.  

Years after their arrival at Dar Moustaqbel, when they obtain their (bachelor) diplomas, each of our students officially becomes the rightful owner of their laptop. They are then allowed to keep their laptops, giving them a crucial tool for their professional careers. This year we welcomed 23 new students to our student residence. Please help us provide them with their own laptop. It makes a huge difference.
