Each of our students received their own laptop

By Rachida Azough | Manager Dar Moustaqbel

Imagine... you are finally pursuing your dream: a tertiary education. You are lucky enough to be one of the beneficiaries of the Moustaqbel Foundation, which grants you a safe and supportive home that values education and gives you the opportunity to develop yourself professionally. Course after course, module after module, you are passing exams, gaining credit points and making something out of yourself. All in the hope of attaining higher education and pursuing the career you always wanted. Then, COVID-19 arrives, seemingly to ruin your future.

All over the world people have been experiencing the horrid consequences of the pandemic. We are happy to share that none of the students at Dar Moustaqbel or their families has fallen ill with COVID-19. However, the effects of one of the strictest lockdowns in the world has been difficult to bear. Universities closed until further notice and the girls had to leave Dar Moustaqbel due to new safety regulations. Our students are strong and keep their dream alive, but they cannot wait to resume their lives in Dar Moustaqbel. Although distance learning has enabled many university students to continue with their studies remotely, the girls were not able to do the same from their homes in remote villages where they lack computers and internet.

Thanks to your contribution we raised sufficient funds to buy a laptop for every one of our students, 55 in total. We received permission to cross the town borders and drive to the different villages to deliver the laptops to the homes of the girls. We provided them with internet to guarantee access to distance education. Dar Moustaqbel also continued an important part of our regular activities program online.

The students are extremely grateful for their new laptops. To have a laptop allows them to resume their classes from a distance. This pandemic has only strengthened the determination our students have to pursue their education.

We all thank you sincerely for making this possible.
