Meet Vidyalaxmi.
Vidyalaxmi studied at the Kaliyachak Girls School from 2006 to 2008, completing grades 6, 7 and 8. She then went to high school and passed the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) examinations.
The CHSL exam is open to high school graduates and qualifies those who pass the exam for a junior level position with a government department. Vidya qualified and now works as a Lower Division Clerk in the Bihar Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
This placement became a stepping stone to Vidya's studying and achieving her BA in Psychology via distance learning. And recently, she passed the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) state examination qualifiying her to apply for a higher position.
Vidya is an articulate and confident young woman and she credits the Kaliyachak Girls School for giving her the encouragement and strength to accomplish what she has done. She continues to visit the school regularly and to meet with Kaliyachak's current students.
Vidya is an alumna who inspires our students and makes us very proud. Like many of our students, she belongs to a very marginalised community group and her parents could not afford to send her to the government school given its distance from their community.
We love success stories like these, and with your continued support, we can provide the girls from Kaliyachak with the education and support they need to become confident young women, like Vidya.
We congratulate Vidyalaxmi on her accomplishments and what she is doing for her community.
