14,000+ Life changing meals!

Dear Friends,

If you are like me, so much of your daily routine centers around food. We think about what we might have for lunch or dinner.. what we might like or whether it's healthy for us. The children we serve at our Delia's Learning Center think about food too. But for many of them, they just want to know that there is something to eat. They live in homes in villages without running water and maybe no refrigeration. As you can imagine, meal time at our center has great meaning for these children. We serve fresh vegetables, farm-fresh eggs, chicken, sometimes fish, yogurt, cheese and healthy snacks. It might be the only nutritious meal a child gets.

We thank you for helping keep these kids healthy and stronger by enabling us to give them proper nutrition! What's crazy is how much food prices have increased.. same as in your town or city. We have also been expanding the number of children we help and now have 40 kids attending our Center and, of course, the kids are growing so they eat more! Hard to believe but in the 4 years we have been open, we have served more than 14,000 meals ! Our monthly food costs have doubled and there was no way to forsee prices going up, up,up.

THANK YOU FOR THE GIFT OF HEALTHY MEALS!

Buna Ziua ! (Good afternoon in Romanian)

We are excited to share with you details on how we used your funds to serve healthy meals to special needs kids who attend our Delia's Learning Center in Barlad, Romania. CEO Laura Larkin and I just returned from two weeks visiting with our team of professionals and spending lots of time with our kids. Our appeal to you to help fund our nutrition program enables us to provide food each day for more than six months!

Our kids live in Vaslui County, one of the poorest areas of the entire European Union. Many of them live in villages without running water or refrigeraton at home. Each weekday, we serve two meals as we have morning and afternoon sessions. Kids in the morning session receive a hot, nutritious lunch. Those in the afternoon session receive a healthy small meal or snack and freshly squeezed juices. Since opening our doors, we had received a nutrition grant from a U.S. company but due to the pandemic that company could no longer provide funding. We have been very concerned as to how we were going to continue providing meals.

Your donation made a huge difference! Not only have we been able to continue serving meals, but we have provided emergency food to kids/families attending our Center. We will continue to fundraise (and seek out other grants) and appreciate all of the support you have given to us!

I am so happy to be able to share some photos of meal time and the nutritious food! Our Wellness Director, Coca, has also been helped in the kitchen by some of our teens who participate in our life skills program. She has been teaching them to set the table, wash the dishes, etc.
