BridgIT Water Foundation Annual Report
The BridgIT Water Foundation (BWF) annual report reviews work it has accomplished during the past year. This includes the Birta Water Project, Nepal, as well as boreholes in rural Uganda and India. This volunteer effort is inspiring on many levels, and we encourage you to spend the time to read throught this report.
Birta Water Project Report
BWF's work continues in 2017. The Board of Directors just approved the balance of funding required to build the Birta Water Project. BWF's local partner, the NGO Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP), has now started to build the Birta project! KEEP is also applying for government funding so the water distribution system can be extended individual homes. Photos and a description of the construction will be posted as the work progresses.
Uganda, India, Tanzania, and more
BridgIT's Founding Director, Wendy Tisdell and Philanthropist Phil Goymour are now visiting Uganda to evaluate the dozens of boreholes that BWF has built over the past year. This includes the 20 new boreholes in the Nabaale SubCounty and the 12 government build boreholes that had fallen into disrepair. This work is so valuable, particularly during this time of drought. After spending time with Steven Beingana and his team from Suubi Community Projects Uganda, Wendy will travel to Tanzania to further work BWF is doing with the Maasai in Ngorongoro. Although Wendy will not travel to India at this time, BWF was able to build a number of boreholes there as well.
There is so much demand for BWF's work. For example, it recently received an appeal from a Chimpanzee conservationist in western Uganda who needs 3 boreholes so people can stay out of the Chimp's forest habitat. There are potential projects in Ethiopia. And there are many sites in Uganda, India, and Nepal that need access to safe, clean, water, but do not yet have funding.
Funding is the key to providing the basic human right of safe water to more people in the developing world. Thank you to our supporters for underwriting the Birta project. Please contact us if you would like to discuss a broader role in support of BWF's work.
