Every week like a clock, our Diplomat Daniel Mercier teaches the young ladies at Wakamatsu Ryo to create their games by coding one step at a time. I was able to visit while the class was going on and showed the below URL where the games are displayed.
They didn’t believe it was real until they keyed in the address and started playing each other's games online.
Before I moved to the next visit, the youngest child at the home who is 3 walked up to me patted me on the stomach, and asked “Why is your stomach so big?” I told her I ate 100 onigiri which she didn’t believe. She is the youngest of the home and also the youngest of ten siblings, four of whom live at the home lifting her and tickling her. We had one of our scholars with us who lived there from 13-16 and is the eldest of 5. He returned to his mother’s home to help with the other siblings. He is now going into his second year to become a social worker to help children the way he was helped. We have 4 Mark Bell scholars at this home all of whom are thriving in their academic and personal lives.
This week, we're thrilled to be part of the GlobalGiving Little By Little campaign! With your support, we can make a huge impact through small acts of kindness. For every donation, GlobalGiving is offering a 50% match, up to $50. That means your contribution goes even further in transforming lives! Let's show the power of community and make a difference in the lives of these students. Join us in spreading hope and empowerment. Every little bit counts!
