We are excited to share the progress of our recent fundraising campaign, aimed at raising operating costs for our girls' dormitory. Thanks to your generous support to date we have raised £3,662 out of a £6,046 goal. We are able to continue offering a safe, nurturing environment where 21 girls can thrive.
As you know, the girls in our dormitory come from extremely challenging backgrounds. They live in poverty-stricken homes, where neglect and the risk of abuse are all too common. For these young girls, the dormitory is not just a place to stay during the school term—it is a sanctuary. Here, they are given the opportunity to feel safe, nourished, and cared for, with access to regular meals and a space where they can focus on their studies.
The impact has been remarkable. Since the dormitory opened, we have seen tremendous growth in the girls’ confidence, academic performance, and social skills. The nurturing environment has provided them with the stability and emotional support they need to succeed in school. The Matron plays a key role as a trusted mentor and role model. She holds regular one-on-one meetings with the girls, offering them a space to share personal challenges and receive guidance. The older girls, in turn, take on the responsibility of caring for the younger ones, fostering a strong sense of community and leadership within the dormitory.
In addition to their studies, our girls participate in extracurricular activities that enhance their life skills. They help maintain the school’s fruit and vegetable garden, contributing to our lunch program. This not only supports their physical well-being but teaches them valuable skills in agriculture and teamwork. The Matron, alongside volunteers, also provides additional academic support to ensure the girls stay on track with their education.
The girls who have advanced to junior and secondary schools continue to benefit from the dormitory’s support under our scholarship program. They remain part of our family and continue to stay in the dormitory, even though they no longer attend our primary school. This ongoing support helps them stay safe, focused on their studies, and continue to grow into confident, empowered young women.
We still need your help to keep this vital program running. Operating costs for the dormitory include staff salaries, food, utilities, and maintenance of the building. Your continued support ensures that our girls remain safe, supported, and able to achieve their full potential.
Thank you for being an integral part of this life-changing initiative. Together, we are transforming lives and creating opportunities for these girls to break free from the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future.
