It is Thai school holidays and all of our scholarship children are having a break. During this time some of them are choosing to come and be part of our 'Garden to Market' project, learn some new skills and earn a little bit of pocket money as well.
Our trained gardeners are spending time showing these studetns how to plant and care for the garden. In this way they are deveoling skills that can be used anywhere or any time in their future. All of the produce that is grown is either sold to the Hand to Hand Foundation to give to the poor or taken to market. The students are able to receive some of this money for their labour.
Some students are then taking the extra step to help prepare some of the produce as cooked meals. hand to hand cooks approximately 300 meals for people in the slums each week, 100 meals for the pre school and 80 meals for our kids club. The produce from our garden is fresh and yummy whilst also creating income producing projects.
Everyone is welcome to come and learn!
