An update on the children of Mwituria

By Elodie Sampere | In Charge of Communications

The Children of Mwituria High School

At the end of 2018, you participated in our Year End fundraising campaign and supported us in our commitment to help us build dormitories for Mwituria High School to educate and safeguard 400 children.

We were thrilled to raise US$ 15,459 in a matter of weeks. Thank you!

Although we are still short of funds to complete all the dormitories, the school has taken some initial steps:

  • They have identified a classrom that will be temporarily converted into a dormitory so that the students no longer have to commute back and forth.
  • They have identified and secured the spot upon which the dorm will be put up.
  • They are in the process of hiring a contractor to start the building work.
  • There will be a meeting held on the 15th of February (tomorrow) with the various stakeholders to discuss the way forward: build a smaller dorm with the funds available or raise more funds to complete the original vision.

There is a new Headmaster at the school and he is very committed to complete this project as soon as possible. We are looking forward working closely with him to make this happen.

We will of course stay in close touch with you with any new development. This success wouldn’t have been possible without you, and we can’t wait to let you know how the project continues to develop.

Thank you again for your support and participation in this campaign.
