Despite the pandemic, the Peraj – adopta un amig@ (adopt a friend) program closed the school year with the participation of 139 mentors and 139 mentees in the states of Chiapas, Oaxaca and Veracruz.
Each pair faced various difficulties to continue working, since one or the other lacked several elements to be able to communicate: from the same devices, to the internet or telephone signal, given the characteristics of the area where the communities where each of them lives are located.
The difficulties were enough to motivate us to make modifications to do a virtual mentoring project and not just face-to-face.
We’re starting a new school year, with new strategies such as virtual mentoring, that is, work sessions between mentors and friends, through our own communication platform. It presents us with a challenge, but one that saves all the members of the program. This school year we want to increase the number of mentors and mentees in each of the states.
Now, we also have a campaign to buy devices and support our children, we invite you to collaborate with this new project "Devices for Mexican children”.
