Dear Supporters of TRL's Biogas Digester Project,
TRL’s experiment with Fixed Dome Biogas digesters continues to evolve.
You will recall that our French environmental engineering intern, Estelle Olivier, spent three months with us during the summer. We built a small digester on my property (using my own funds) in order to have hands-on experience with the system.
When the system was up and running, I invited the board members at the David LaMotte School to visit my digester to see for themselves how it worked and what effort was needed to maintain it. They decided to utilize the last open space, allocated for the digester, to build a permanent stage for various school activities. We agree that with changes that have occurred over five years since our agreement was signed with the school to build a digester, the placing of the digester was no longer appropriate.
Armed with the knowledge that first-hand experience has given us, we are now looking for the next site. We are even better equipped to determine where is the most appropriate place to build a demonstration model -- created to show our community how biogas digesters can serve them through the production of fertilizer, gas for cooking, as well as keeping fecal matter out of Lake Atitlan. We are planning for installation of the demonstration model in 2025, when our entire international team will be available to construct and educate the community.
As I mentioned above, indeed “Patience is a Virtue” ….one vital to success in projects such as this! We’ll be keeping you up to date on developments.
With gratitude for your continuing support and interest,
Candis
