As we are waiting our project to raise the fund necessary to open a high-quality Medical Centre, in partnership with Reach Tanzania, within its existing Campus is still in the funding stage, we are delighted to be able to confirm that we continue to deliver free Healthcare to nearly 1,000 poor and vulnerable children in Tanzania.
We are diligent to make sure that even though the Medical Centre is still on its initial stage of renovation and construction, a high-quality free health care for the poor and vulnerable children in Tanzania is essence. We had a special Clinic day at our Day Care Centre, CDCC, where we screened 75 children for their health needs, measured their weight and height and Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) to determine their Nutritional needs. Given the importance of nutrition in the overall physical and cognitive development of children, there is a need to focus on the first 1,000 days of a child’s life to prevent the negative effects of malnutrition from becoming irreversible. We would be able to do this for all our beneficiary children from our partner Orphanages and School once the Medical Centre is up and running.
We have acquired 20 sewing machines that will be linked to our Health Project for the sewing of reusable sanitary pads to teenage girls combined with support education on helping the girls not only to understand how best to use these pads but in providing invaluable education related to menstruation and offer them sewing vocational skills. After we have made the necessary agreement with the local partners we will be able to close the gap of many young women missing their classes resulting in drop out of school.
Over the past quarter we are delighted that one of our children whom had problems with his anal passage and resulted to urinary complications; has successfully undergone surgery to remove bladder stones. Moreover, we have managed to pay for a CT Scan of another girl, which enabled the doctors to properly navigate their way during a Corrective Jaw Surgery for an injury she sustained from an accident when she was in Primary school. We are happy that our First Aid program is still helping our beneficiaries by providing free supplies every month, ensuring they obtain their glass prescription and dental support.
