Our commitment to environmental sustainability continues to grow, with increased efforts to integrate climate-conscious practices into our shelter and farm operations. This quarter, we made significant progress in water conservation, especially with the recent rainfall. We implemented a more efficient rainwater harvesting system, which has allowed us to collect and store water for irrigation and household use. This system reduces our dependence on external water sources and ensures that our farm remains productive even during dry periods. Women at the shelter are actively engaged in climate resilience training, gaining knowledge on sustainable farming techniques, soil conservation, and the use of organic fertilizers. These practices not only benefit the shelter’s food production but also equip survivors with valuable skills they can take back to their communities. Looking ahead, we recognize the importance of extending climate awareness beyond the shelter. While we have not yet done any community engagement workshops with local farmers and community members this year, this remains a key goal for the future. We aim to develop training sessions focused on sustainable agricultural practices and environmental conservation, ensuring that climate action becomes a shared responsibility across the wider community.
